Kai

My sister, Melissa, has been asking for pictures of Kai, but due to my phone dying on me in the hospital and having to wait for it's replacement, I haven't been able to post pics.  On the 4th of July, my honey was nice and got me a camera so I'm not dependent on just my phone anymore!

So here are some pictures of Kai over the last few weeks!

Just doing what he does most of the time...SLEEP!

Hanging with our favorite person...GRANDMA!

Chillin' with our favorite GRANDPA!

More sleeping needed!

Aren't I cute!?!?!?

Meeting Aunt Alissa for the first time!

Just in case you thought Kai didn't get enough sleep!

My favorite DADDY!!!

Hard to believe he'll be a month old tomorrow!  Time flies!!! (most days anyway!)

Michael Kai Bishop

We'd like to introduce our newest member of the Bishop family...

MICHAEL KAI BISHOP

(He will be called Kai)
Born Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 4:14 p.m.
Weighed 7 lbs, 8 oz
19 1/2 inches long

Our little guy took a little while to come but we are so grateful he is now here!  After 36 hours of labor and finding he wasn't going to be able to be born without intervention, we ended up having a c-section and are glad we did!  After 3 days in the hospital (for both him and mommy due to problems mommy had during labor) we are now home in our new house (that we now own!!!) and loving it!

Life Update

Wow!  It's hard to believe I haven't updated this since December!  Time has sure flown!  I am now 31-33 weeks pregnant (depending on the day as the doctor moved my due date up to June 25th), have one less organ (after having emergency gallbladder surgery a month ago), and trying to get things ready for our little guy's arrival.  So much going on!  So little time to get everything else completed!

So as I said, I had emergency gallbladder surgery on March 28th after having my first gallIbladder "attack" that weekend.  After lots of discussion, Michael and I decided we didn't want to postpone removing my gallbladder until after I had our baby boy, as it could get worse and the best time to have surgery was during the second trimester.  We're so glad we did it when we did cause the surgeon said I wouldn't have made it through the rest of my pregnancy based off the condition my gallbladder was in.  Because I was pregnant, I didn't get to have the easy laproscopic surgery.  I had open surgery, which gave me this:

Sexy, right!?

I got my staples out a week after surgery and the following week had the incision rip open.  It was a very interesting experience as it wasn't what I expected.  I would have expected it to hurt and be bleeding, but it wasn't.  I didn't even realize it had reopened for several minutes.  Luckily Michael was with me at the time and we headed back to the surgeon where he then put in stitches (which I had in for 2 weeks) and it seems to have finally sealed together.  Even the surgeon was surprised it reopened!

Things I learned with this pregnancy:

*I shouldn't have taken the first 25 weeks for granted!  I didn't have any issues or problems and thought this pregnancy would be easy!  Little did I know what the next 4 weeks had in store for me!

*Our little guy is very modest!  It took 4 ultrasounds over the last 3 months to get confirmation that he is indeed a HE!

*Due dates change constantly!  I've gone from having a due date of July 5th to July 16th to July 10th to now JUNE 25th!

*Our little guy is not going to be little for too long!  He's all ready measuring over 4 pounds and was told he has LONNNNNNGGGGGGGGG legs!

*Baby boy Bishop does NOT like loud noises!  (Just like his mommy!)

*I'm not one of those who doesn't get headaches during pregnancy.  In fact, I had my first migraine in years a couple of weeks ago that ended me up in the hospital!

*Shopping for boys is FUN!!!  Up until a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't get excited to shop for him cause it didn't seem like there was anything "cute" out there for boys like there are for girls.  I just couldn't get into it.  Little did I know a monkey baby blanket would change everything!

I can't wait to meet our little guy!  Both his daddy and mommy are anxiously awaiting his arrival!  Until he makes his appearance we'll just have to do with this:

Now, if only we could come up with a name for him!

Farm Implement Parade

So this is a little late, but now that I finally have the pictures uploaded onto my computer I figured I'd finally write about it.  On Saturday, December 3rd, Michael and I went up to Sunnyside to see the Farm Implement parade. I hadn't seen it in years and Michael had never seen it, so we figured now was a good time.  It has definitely changed over the years, but it is a tradition I hope we continue for years to come!

Beginning of Parade---flags coming by

Tractor with lights

More tractors

Grape Harvest all lit up

Bus

Coca Cola Truck

ambulance

LTI truck (aka Darigold milk truck)

It's a very cool experience and if you're ever in the area the first weekend of December you should go see!  It's a unique experience!

We've moved!!!

So a lot of you are aware we've have some major changes in our life.  After living in Hawaii for two beautiful months we decided we wanted to be closer to family, so we moved back to Washington.  Michael started a new job last week as the network administrator for a cyber security firm and is loving it!  Because his job is in West Richland, we decided to move to be closer to his work.  Well, after some searching, we found a BEAUTIFUL house 0.9 miles from his office.

(The laundry area and garage)

It's a little bigger than what we needed, but we couldn't pass it up!  We are just renting but are totally in love with this house!  I'm having so much fun setting up our home and being a stay-at-home wife!  For those who live in the area, feel free to stop by!  We love having visitors!

Big Island 2011

My husband was AMAZING and planned our honeymoon without me knowing what we were doing.  All I was aware of was we were flying in and out of Kona on the Big Island.  Beyond that is was all a surprise and what a surprise it was!

We arrived in Kona on Monday night and went to eat at a little place in Kona called Island Lava Java.  It was FANTASTIC!!  The food was great and it overlooked the water.  We got there right before sunset so I was able to see my first Kona sunset on the first day!  After we ate, we drove to the place we would stay for the next couple of nights.  It was a very cute little Bed & Breakfast called Lilikoi Inn.(http://www.lilikoiinn.com/aboutus.php)  We were greeted by the owners and welcomed with a delicious island smoothie!

The next day we went swimming at a beach just north of Kona.  It was so much fun!  I loved it!  The ocean is so amazing!  After swimming we headed into Kona for the next surprise Michael had up his sleeve.  We had lunch at a place called Buns in the Sun (http://www.bunsinthesunhawaii.com/) and then waited.  All of a sudden a van pulls up and Michael tells me our next adventure is here.  It was a van with Mauna Kea Summit Adventures.  Yes, we were going to the top of Mauna Kea (a whole 13,728 feet that is!).

On day 3, we headed to the other side of the island via the north route.  It was a very pretty drive and reminded me very much of diving through the mountain passes (very green).  We stayed in Hilo for 3 days.  Our big adventure in Hilo (again a surprise from my honey) was a helicopter ride over Kilauea (the volcano that has been erupting on and off for the last few years and started to reflow 2 weeks after our honeymoon).  It was AMAZING!!!

Here is a little video of the crater as we're flying over it.  *Sorry it's a little blurry at first, but it does get clear and you can see the smoke coming out of the crater.*
Here is a picture of the crater:
After the helicopter ride we were picked up and taken to Akaka Falls (http://www.gohawaii.com/big-island/regions-neighborhoods/hamakua-coast/akaka-falls-state-park) followed by swimming at a locals only spot (by ourselves!) and then to a remote location for a very romantic dinner overlooking a waterfall.  It was BEAUTIFUL!!

Akaka Falls:

Here's a pic of the waterfall we sat and watched while eating dinner:
We headed back to Kona for our last night and decided to go around the sound side of the island.  We walked on a black sand beach (pic standing on the rocks at the bland sand beach)
and then stopped at the Southern most point in the United States.
So much fun is such a little time!  Can't wait to go back and visit the Big Island again!

Finally...Wedding Pics
